It could be possible for Game Freak to add in a system to have custom Battle Bond forms. We have Ash-Greninja, Serena-Delphox and Clemont-Chesnaught as bases for the custom form (including shiny variants) which you can customise, this also allows you to trade your Battle Bond forms with other trainers to use. You must also defeat the above mons to gain the Battle Bond ability for each Kalos starter, just like your Lucario must defeat a Mega Lucario to unlock Mega Evolution fully.

I used to think this was a little criticism agains Idol Culture in Japan. Yancy is a true lovely friend, I don't know if this is exactly a love story in the side quest, maybe is more like friends and true frinds are. Since Yance and Curtis can't be 100% real either at work or with the MC, they'd probably think that being themeselves can't be aligned with their Idol part, as well as thinking maybe the MC would stop being their friend or even take advantage of it. Having money, fame or status, makes people believe that some friends aren't TRUE friends, and lonely/previously abandoned people tend to think this way, "you can't be fully you or they'll leave".

Yeah the manga is pretty dark compared to the anime and the games. First time I saw this I was like "Is it Pokemon or Hunter x Hunter?" I even compared the pokemons to the chimera ants.
